George Foreman GRP4EP Platinum Evolve Grill with 2 Grill Plates, 1 Deep-Dish Bake Pan and 1 Mini Burger Insert

Nice Grill, But Wouldn't Be My First Choice
I'm a longtime and happy user of a basic model George Foreman grill, and received an Evolve grill for review purposes. The bottom-line: while this grill has a lot of functionality for a Foreman grill, it's also (1) a bit pricey, and (2) moderate sized. Unless you're sure that you want everything this grill offers, I think there are better choices, both in the Foreman line and elsewhere.

What you get that you might not get on other electric grills:

+ Removable, dishwasher safe grill plates: This feature is really nice. I still put a wet paper towel between the plates after I'm done cooking to steam off the worst of the gunk, but dropping the plates in the dishwasher after that is very convenient.

+ Adjustable temperature (300-425 degrees F): The entry-level grills only grill at "high" -- this gives you "medium" through "high," and allows baking.

+ A built in timer:...

My family loves the Foreman!
I have a basic Foreman grill that was one of the first with the removable plates to make cleaning easier. I have used this exact same Foreman for grilling chicken and heating leftover food for approx. 3 years and purchased a 2nd for my other home. I love the thing. The new Foreman is certainly bigger than my prevoius unit, but oh is it ever versatile. Take a look at what I cooked and my thoughts on positives and negatives of this grill:

What I cooked:
Frozen Teriyaki Grilled Chicken Strips purchased from Trader Joes
Raw Turkey Burger
Frozen Chicken Breast
Quesadilla Cheese and Chicken
Raw Chicken Skewers
Costco purchased Chicken Dogs
Cornbread Muffins

Positives:
-Yes, I said Cornbread muffins in the same Foreman as Raw Turkey Burger! Not at the same time. The Foreman comes with a great manual that describes the times and temperatures for many, many different items-so it takes the guessing out of the way. Fish,...

My First Foreman, overall a winner
I see these all the time, but have never used one before, it is easy and convenient.
I can see this is a mature product and has benefited by years of consumer feedback. Adjustable temp, beep when ready, interchangeable plates just to name a few of the refinements.

The grill has a fairly large surface, and has double hinges to accommodate thick foods.
These hinges are strong and feel like they will last a long time. However my is a little tighter on one side which makes opening and closing a little strange feeling. I suspect over time it will even out though and it does not impact performance.

Speaking of performance, this is where it shines. Plenty of power, heats quickly and can hold temp well. Also the heating element is large and while the very edge of the trays are a little cooler, overall the heat is even with no hot spots or cool spots. Unlike most of my other electrical skillets and griddles which are always hotter near the temp control and...
