DMT FSKF Diafold Serrated Knife Sharpener - Fine

Gets the Job Done
I ordered this for my fiance and he loves it. He has sharpened every knife in our house and at his parents. It doesn't look like much, but it definitely puts a sharp edge on any blade.

I ordered this particular one because it is sort of an all purpose, everday sharpener but even though it is only rated fine it still removes small nicks. We are going to buy the DMT ceramic extra-fine sharpener (white handle) too, so he can refine the edges even more.

This was kind of a throw away gift that turned into the best christmas gift of the year for him. I couldn't find any reviews for this product anywhere else, so I hope that this one is helpful.

Got it for my dad; he LOVES it!
My dad told me he wanted THIS EXACT SHARPENER for Christmas; so of course I got it for him. He wanted ONE sharpener for ALL his kitchen knives, smooth edged and serrated, his Swiss Army pocket knife, and anything else he could find to sharpen... maybe his chainsaw and lawn mower too, I don't know. Now when I visit him, his knives are perfectly sharpened. He likes the fine grit as opposed to the very fine or medium, and he loves how it opens and closes, and how it handles when open and in use. I wouldn't be surprised if he sleeps with it. He actually let me use it once (oooooh!) to sharpen a big, fancy Spiderco knife I have, and it's just as perfect as he says it is. Maybe I'll make him buy me one for Christmas this year.

hone
I've had this thing for many years now. When you're on the fly and don't have time to break out the stone to "sharpen" your knife, open this thing up, and perform a quick "hone" to realign the blade edge. Notice the difference. When it comes to pocket knives, I can sharpen them up pretty good with a dual composite stone. I also have a longer steel for the kitchen knives which I utilize to hone prior to each use. If the knife is of good quality, I'll take it in for professional sharpening. There is a big difference between sharpening and honing. Sharpening remakes the blade's edge. Honing takes that edges imperfections out or realigns the folded over or flat spots. Pull any knife out of your kitcnen drawer, look straight on at the edge, and you'll see light reflecting off of the imperfections, unless you hone prior to putting it away. My opinion, knives banging against each other in a drawer messes them up. That's why I hone prior to use.

NordicWare 15040 Cast Aluminum Stovetop Belgium Waffle Iron

follow the rules and you shall be rewarded
Wow! Magnificent waffles (and I've tasted my share) first time off the volley. How, you may ask, those 1-2 star reviewers? Oil the waffler lightly before the pre-heat. They're right, there is NO such thing as a completely stick-free waffler out there. And for those of you in love with teflon, good luck achieving the light crisp crunch exterior that yields to a light fluffy interior possible with this waffler. Waffle afficionados told me I had to find an old non-teflon waffler on e-bay or at a flea market. Imagine my surprise to run into this at a nearby kitchen supply store. Good thing I had not read the Amazon reviews, I might have been scared off. So make their suggested batter, lightly oil, pre-heat, pour batter and 3 minutes later--the BEST waffles out there. Merci, NordicWare.

The Only Non-electric Waffle Iron You'll Ever Need
I purchased this waffle iron four years ago.

And, I went through quite a few batches of waffle batter until I could heat the iron on the stove properly.

But, after a while I was making the tastiest waffles on the block.

Once I got the hang of using this waffler, I got rid of my electric
waffle iron!

I end with one word of advice. Please be sure to grease this waffle iron before you pour the batter on the grids.

Nordic Belgium Waffler
The new Nordic Belgium Wafflers are not the same high quality as previous models. Previous models include a temperature gauge and bake higher quality waffles. The new waffler does not hold the waffles to the outside surface until baked and the waffles end out collapsed and heavy. I used the older model at the same time with the same batter at similar temperatures and the waffles from the older model were light and crisp.

Nespresso D50-US-OR-NE Espresso Maker, Pure Orange

Absolutely the best espresso machine for this price!
Amazing quality espresso comes out of this machine. I love how everything is automated and there is no need to puncture or anything. Also, the fact that you can move the water to the sides is very good, especially if you are limited in counter space. The color orange pops out on the kitchen counter and everyone always asks what it is. Have it for a month now and no problems. In love with this thing!

This is amazing
Love this product. The price is great about $60 dollars cheaper then any other place I searched for. I had this machine at my office before i decided to buy one on my own. The coffee is amazing if you like espresso. Does not take up alot of counter space as I have a very small kitchen and the coffee is made within 30 seconds. I love it

nespresso
I like the machine. Great coffee, very cute design and takes little room. The only regret I have is that I have not ordered milk frother with the coffee machine. Could be a much better deal. Otherwise it is a great thing to look at and to start the day with)

Corelle Coordinates Burner Cover Set of 4, Simple Lines

Less mess under the unused burners!
My husband is the messiest chef when he tries to cook. He constantly splatters and gets food particles and sauces into the burners that aren't being used, leading to lovely burning smells and baked on messes next time those burners are used.

In the past I've tried telling him to stop, had him scrape off the burned mess, etc. But, he won't learn. These burner covers are the best idea I've had in a long time. They cover up the burners so no more mess underneath! They come clean easily with a little soap and water.

Plus they look great and don't have flowers or country patterns on them.

My stove looks a lot nicer
They're made of thing metal so don't expect anything too strong. I like the pattern and my electric stove looks a lot nicer with them. The one issue is we keep taking them off to cook and not putting them back =)

Great covers for price paid (under $6) - look great on white stove.
These are good covers for a reasonable price and are the same shade of white as my stove. The clean lines make the stove look cleaner than the colorful prints. These are thin, painted covers though and tend to get scratched over time and if you turn the burner on while the cover is on there the paint will turn brown almost immediately, so be careful! An alternative is plain stainless steel covers that hold up better to scratches and accidental turn-on of stove but will be pricier.

DeLonghi D24527DZ Dual Zone 3-Pound-Capacity Deep Fryer

Best Fryer for a family of 2 or more! It 's Incredible!
I bought this fryer mainly because of its capacity, we're a family of 4, and because I heard good things about it. I am so glad I did! This fryer cooks 3 pounds of food perfectly! I made a ton of homemade potato chips tonight. This fryer is easy to use and easy to clean, and, as a bonus, it's easy to drain so you can save your oil.

When I was a teenager I worked at Burger King, and cooking with this fryer made me feel like I was at the fry station again (not that I want to relive that feeling). But, really, it has an actual basket that lowers into the hot oil and it has a place to set the basket so when your food is done it drains properly.

My Chinese chicken and broccoli has never tasted so good! This fryer is a gem.

If you like to cook and want to cut down your cooking time on foods such as french fries, chicken, fish for tacos etc..., then this is definitely a purchase to make. Amazon has free shipping on this fryer which is why I bought it from...

Had no problems standing up to our Seafood Feast
My family and I celebrate Thanksgiving with a large seafood feast. Much of it is fried, and we need a LOT because everyone loves it. Traditionally, I have been the one camped outside in whatever weather happened to be around that year, frying up the large batches in my turkey fryer. While the adventure was always fun, monitoring temperature through multiple batches was difficult, and cleanup was always a nightmare. This year, we decided to try something that would keep me inside and possibly ease the cleanup effort. This fryer seems to be the answer.

First, I should say that I only give 5 stars when I can't think of a way to improve a product, so don't let the 4 stars color your impression. This fryer did everything I needed with no hassle. We were able to to fry up over 4 lbs of shrimp, 1 pint and a half of oysters, over 2 lbs of scallops, 4 soft shell crabs, and 3 large catfish fillets. I used smaller batches since this was my first time using the fryer, so it...

Decent, but a little pricey
Received this as a gift for Christmas '08. Have used it at least 8 times so far, and have had no problems with the function or electronics or anything. It does cook well, and it is nice and easy to clean once you have the oil drained (just throw most of it into the dishwasher!). However, one of the reasons that I requested this fryer was for the draining system, and I am pretty disappointed in it. I was hoping for something a little more sophisticated then just a simple valve that opens, like maybe a built-in filter and a reservoir to hold the oil.

If you want to drain the oil, you have to first find a nice container to use to store the oil in. Then you have to try and hold this container up to the valve, along with a strainer or other filter to keep the oil clean, and I found you also need a funnel to keep the oil from running all over the place. While holding all of these items under the valve, you then have to try and open the valve. Once most of the oil has...

Hamilton Beach 49611 12 Cup Coffeemaker with Digital Clock

Hamilton Beach 49611
I've only had for a few days, therefore 4* instead of 5* but so far I really like the features incl. being able to program to make coffee before I wake up, adjustments for strength of brew, and automatic shut-off so no burned coffee! Just hope it will last more than a year which the last two coffee makers didn't (both Black & Decker). It's also attractively designed! Only negative is that it needs cone type filters and I'm stocked up on standard ones.

Buy it!
We have used this maker for a couple weeks. The maker brews excellent coffee. I shake and the spout on the pot allows me to pour without spilling. For the price, you can't beat it.

Great Buy
Had a 4 cup coffee maker updated to this coffee maker and wished we would have done it sooner.
Really like the Bold coffee setting.
Also the clock is a neutral black numbers on gray.

Lasko 4820 Xtra Air Tower Fan with Fresh Air Ionizer

Loved them at first, then.......
I bought 2 of these for my business. I teach an exercise class and we NEED good fans. I liked these because they wouldn't take up a lot of our dance space and would have air blowing over most of a persons body since they are 4' tall. While I thought they were a little wobbly, they worked nicely. One of the bases did break as it often got moved around in the closet of the hall I rented, but I used them the whole first summer and they were great!

Over the winter I moved into my own center and brought these with me. Now that it's summer it's REALLY HOT in my center because I don't have A/C yet. So, I got out the fans. They worked for about 1.5 weeks. Then one of them stopped responding to any of the buttons. It works if you plug it in, but it doesn't oscillate and you can only turn it off by unplugging it. Only days later the same thing happened to the other one.

I am EXTREMELY disappointed considering how much I paid for these fans just over a year ago...

Best Fan Ever !
We've owned our Lasco 48 inch tall fan for 8 months. It is the quietest fan with the greatest amount of air flow of any fan we've owned or encountered. Not sure why others are reporting problems. We move it easily. It takes up less than 1 square foot of floor space, and collects and throws air from ground level where its coolest. The round cage type blades are ultra quiet at low speed; and even on lowest speed, it puts out huge amounts of air. The remote and the ionizer option are both a plus.

not what i expected
i expected better durability out of this fan. It died after just 3 months, and had flow problems from day one. I tried contacting Lasko but got no responses.

General Electric IM6 Ice Maker Kit

Stealthy
I purchased a SS GE Profile refrig/freezer in 2002. The refrig was super quiet, except when the IM-4 icemaker cycled. The IM-4 could be heard from the next room. After having a new floor installed, the contractors must have damaged something in the rear of the icemaker (pump). I replaced with the new IM-6. After checking my connections and looking for puddles, I had to continue to look inside the freezer to see if it was working. The IM-6 is so quiet, I could not hear the cycling. The only sound that was heard was the ice dropping into the empty bucket. Finally a quiet ice maker for my quiet refrigerator! Good job GE.

Easy to install
I purchased the GE Icemaker IM-6 to install in my frig that had never been equiped with one. It seems the icemaker is packaged with instructions and extra parts so that it fits EVERY refrigerator GE ever made. It was not hard finding the simple two page instructions for my model. But being a guy, it was real hard to throw out all those extra parts not needed - LOL.

The actual install was one of the simplest projects I've ever tackled. Was a little apprehensive when it took about 24hrs before it started producing cubes. But after that every hour on the hour... ice cubes drop.

I like this icemaker very much. Quiet operation and plenty of ice to keep up with my four adult users. Sure beats filling ice trays by hand. Thanks GE.

GE IM6
My ice machine stopped working in our GE GSS25TSWCSS side by side refrigerator. Our fridge/freezer was only 4 years old, but that about the lifetime of an ice maker. The green light was blinking on the ice maker. Everything i read online suggested that if the water inlet tube was frozen, then to replace the water valve at the back of the fridge. If there was no ice in the inlet tube then it was the ice maker and just to replace the unit. GE sell them for $148.75 plus shipping. This product included the WR30X10093 ice maker part for $81.00. Part arrived promptly. Removed 1 screw eased out the old ice maker, disconnected the plug and re-installed the new ice maker. Switched on and it immediately started making ice. Awesome. I saved about $60 on the part and no labor or call out charge.

GE Oven Temperature Meat Probe WB20T10025 NEW OEM

Does what it suppose to
Summary - If your GE oven is missing the probe and you like to bake, you need this

Background - When we bought our home, the previous owners had lost the oven probe for our GE double oven. As Christmas approached and I was once again called on to do Prime Rib, I decided to purchase this and see if I could worry less about the meat temperature and spend more time with the family Christmas day.

Quality - The probe appears to be of above average quality with a flexible coating to protect the wire from the probe to the plug.

Use - Worked perfectly and easily. I have now used it two times on large meats (stuffed chicken, prime rib) and it performed perfectly.

Recommendation - I would recommend this product and I am happy with my purchase.

It works.
The previous owners of our house mustve taken the probe with them, so our fancy GE 44XL stove's oven was unable to use the "temperature cook" function Local appliance stores wanted a fortune. This worked well and it seems to be within 1 or 2 degrees of our Polder thermometer but is MUCH more convenient.

Great Value
Great replacement part at the best price. I am really glad to have a working probe again. Brisket for dinner.

Range Kleen 1056RGE8Z GE Hinged Drip Pans and Trim Rings Containing 3 Units 105A, R6U and 1 Unit 106A,R8U, Chrome

What you get is NOT what you see
The quality of the drip pans is not in question here - new pans are always nice. In this picture you see one 8" pan and three 6" pans but the text says two of each. I ordered it anyway thinking it was a typographical error - the pictures and text do not agree on the Target website either. The drip pans arrived within a few days -very expedient! However, the package insert says one 8" pan and three 6" pans but the package actually contains two of each. What am I to do? Return it and intentionally order the wrong product in the hopes of getting the correct product? No. I salvaged one of my old drip pans instead and now have an extra 8" pan.

Matches the item in the description
I was hesitant about this since some of the previous reviews reported different items received than pictured. What I received was item 1056RGE8Z: 3 each 105 small drip pan and R6GE small trim ring and 1 each 106 large drip pan and R8G3 large trim ring . These "fit most hinged electric ranges including GE, Hotpoint, Kenmore, Moffat, Monogram (GE), ProFile (GE), RCA (GE), Rope." They were a perfect match to my old GE JBS03 range. In short, yes, what I received exactly matched what was pictured, which in turn was exactly what I needed.

Range pans and rings
Item was exactly as described and fit the models listed. Was exactly was I was looking for and couldn't find in any local stores. The appliance stores want at least twice as much to special order the replacement drip pans and rings

Yama Glass 5 Cup Tabletop Siphon (Syphon) (Alcohol Burner)

first siphon experience
I wanted to try the siphon method of brewing and thought this would be a good entry level pot. I have been very pleased with it so far. I have used it almost every day since I received it and used it for a presentation on coffee brewing methods. I must say that I was a bit disappointed when it arrived to see that the product features had not been (nor still is) accurate. The listing stated (and still does) that this unit also "Includes an bamboo stir stick and a butane burner". Of course it did not. It contained a plastic measuring spoon that also works as a stirrer as well as an alcohol burner. I had done enough research to suspect this was the case.

On the topic of burner; I had read quite a bit about the slowness of the alcohol burner but this really hasn't been too much of an issue for me. I heat my water in an electric water kettle before putting it in the siphon and it is back up to a boil in a very short time with the alcohol burner. I could see this being an issue...

Inexpensive entry-level siphon makes great coffee
Vacuum brewing is a blast!

It may take some trial and error at first, but the high quality of the resulting brew more than rewards your persistence in getting your technique just right.

The Yama TCA-3 was the second coffee siphon I purchased.

The first was a Hario Nouveau 5-cup model. While the build and glass quality of the Yama can't hold a candle to those of the Hario, that was to be expected, as the Yama is about half the price. More importantly, the Yama does make a great cup of coffee.

From a tactile standpoint, the Hario feels better in the hand and seems more solid; the Hario Nouveau's rubber seal between the top and bottom globes is of much higher quality.

Why didn't I buy another Hario, then? Hario has stopped importing them into the U.S. While they can be found occasionally on eBay or bought from vendors in Canada, the availability of parts is a potential concern.

The Yama, at its much lower pricepoint, is a...

Great Coffee!
This pot makes a very clean and bright cup of coffee. However, for the price, I would have expected better quality in the construction. While the glass and rubber gaskets seem fine, the plastic components and the base feel cheap. The spring that holds the filter in place seems like it won't last more than a few years. When this eventually gives out, I'll continue to make siphon coffee, but probably find a different company.

Maytag Aluminum Microwave Hood Vent Filter, 707929

It is what it is
This aluminum filter is also suitable for the Jenn-Air downdraft cooktop (for which I use it). These filters are dishwasher safe and last years. Nothing to get particularly excited about, but they do what they are supposed to do. Guess you can't ask for more than that.

Not sized right.
What can I say. They are smaller then the specs and they do not fit. :(. Bummed with the result.

Vent screen / Shipping
All they had to do is put it in an envelope between two pieces of stiff cardboard, it would have shipped fine. Instead they put it in a box 20X bigger than it had to be, with pillows, and they mangled it to fit around them. I straightened it enough to work OK.

Miele STB 205-3 Turbo Plus Power Nozzle Attachment

Ideal for Pet Hair
The Miele vacuum cleaner is already a substantial investment, but I recommend the turbobrush for those models that don't come with one. It's an especially useful add-on for those with pets, because the regular-head does only a fair job of picking up our golden retriever's shedded hair. I could just manage it by tipping the regular brush, but this is not nearly as effective as the Turbo. The Turbo rotates extremely fast (sorry, but the company supplies no specs on how fast), and has longer, more effective brushes to scoop up pet hair and any other kind of debris. This model (205-3) fits Miele vaccums only, but Model STB 201 Vario's adapter enables Turbo to attach to non-Miele vaccums with suction tubes that are between 30 and 38 mm. One other note: There's no storage cover; in fact, this one was not even wrapped in plastic for protection during transit. However, there was no damage.

The rugs look noticeably cleaner with the Turbo, as the brushes also tend to fluff them for...

Far superior to old "Powerbrush"
Sometimes it pays to spend more for quality. I have a Miele and had problems with the old battery operated powerbrush attachment (it was $250 and is no longer sold). Miele really stood behind the product and sent me this turbo brush as a replacement. It does a great job and is really helpful since I have a pet. It has two speed settings. You will not be disappointed.

You need this if you have carpeting
I bought my Miele vacuum first to see if I thought I needed this turbobrush. Answer: YES. If you have any carpeting, I'd highly recommend buying this brush. It's too bad it doesn't just automatically come with the vacuum. It makes vacuuming the carpet much easier & more effective.

Coleman 2000009219 Cool Zephyr Mini Fan

No good...
At first I liked this little fan. I had only used it a couple of times when it suddenly stopped working. It started feeling slightly warm to the touch and then simply stopped spinning? I wouldn't waste my money on this as the motor appears to be junk & will burn out if you use it.

02/03/11 Update: I would NEVER buy from this seller again! After my fan stopped working after only using it twice, I attempted to contact the seller. They never responded to my message. I sent the seller a second message and again, they chose to never respond! Who would want to buy from a seller that doesn't care about it's customers?!? Not ME! To me, no customer support = no customers!

This is the one to get
I sweat profusely. (It's the medication I'm on.) For the last two summers I've been searching for the perfect handheld fan. This is the one. It's the only fan I've tried that has sufficient power with only two AA batteries. The only other one I've used that was as powerful needed 4 AA and was obviously much heavier and bulkier. It was also much more expensive.

Proviso: After a week of use I found an annoying flaw. The fan blades come off too easily, sometimes flying off when you turn the fan on and potentially hitting people. I fixed it by making holes in the plastic and tying the blades on with fishing line.

More than its size would indicate
This supplies a surprisingly strong air flow for its size, and certainly can cool one's face very nicely. Not too loud, either. The blades fold back, and if wrapped with an elastic band, it travels in a pocket or purse just fine.

CARTRIDGE

Stadler Form Demineralization Cartridge
If you own a Stadler Form humidifier that uses these cartridges, they are essential to reducing the white dust that forms in your household when using an ultrasonic humidifier. They do not clear up the problem entirely. Dusting is still necessary. The only thing better is going to the expense of purchasing or making your own distilled water. Secondly, the cartridge creates a slime-like residue in the water chamber of the humidifier that's another cleaning chore. These cartridges are not inexpensive (even at Amazon pricing)probably because of the nice plastic housing. Depending on the hardness of your water, and if you use your Stadler Form humidifier constantly, you will be spending between $90-180 a year on cartridges, a not insubstantial sum.

works for William humidifier
I use this with the Stadler-Form William ultra sonic Humidifier. You are suppose to soak this in water for 24 hours before first use. If you have soft natural water, it will last up to 60 days. If you have very hard water it will last about 10 days. All of this is assuming you run a full tank each night.

This is a must if you use an ultrasonic humidifier. If you don't change the filter you will get white dust. The best way to test if you need to change the filter is to put a mirror up to the mist and see if you get white dust on the mirror.

If you own a Stadler-Form humidifier, this filter will work for you.

Not that good
Put new one in and still have white dust all over. Doesn't thread on as easy as the original one with the unit.

KRUPS 654-75 Waffle Chef 4-Slice Belgian Waffle Maker with Nonstick Plates LED Indicators and Stainless Steel Housing Silver

Makes Excellent Waffles if Used Properly
I was a little worried about purchasing this waffle maker based on a few of the previous reviews, but in my experience it makes great waffles and cleans up very easily. After reading the instructions carefully, it's clear that some of the reviewers misinterpreted the functions of the two lights on the waffle maker. Keep the following in mind and you should be able to make excellent waffles every time:

1. The machine must be preheated until the green light turns off, which tells you that it has reached the correct temperature for cooking.

2. It should then be lightly sprayed, top and bottom, with a cooking oil spray.

3. Add a bit less than 1/2 cup of waffle mix to each section of the waffle maker. Be careful not to overfill - if the batter runs over the sides, this will make it more difficult to clean. A slight run over shouldn't be a problem, though, as it will come off when the waffle is removed after cooking.

4. After filling all the...

Great Waffles!
Finally a great Belgian Waffle Maker! We had tried so many waffle makers in search of one that would make the "Diner" waffles that my kids love. "Too light", "Too Dark", "Not Crispy", "Too thick", "Too thin", were the complaints until we found this Krups Belgian Waffle Maker. The waffles come out nice and thick, but are light and crispy and only take about four minutes to cook. It does take some time to clean it after we're all done, but it's worth it! Excellent product.

Hard To Clean
This waffle iron does a great job with waffles. The problem is that it is very hard to clean. There are to many small clearances around the waffle iron for waffle mix to cake up if the waffle iron runs over. There isn't an adequate drip edge to catch the over flow.

I am going to try the Villaware with the removeable grids. I put whole blue berries into to my waffle batter, and this also requires additional clean up that would be easier if I can remove the grids and put them in a dish pan.

Air-7000 Air Odor Remover Ozone Generator Machine 7000 Mg/h Ozon Ozonizer Ozonator

Wow, not your average ozone generator
This thing works great, but understand what you are getting. This is NOT one of those ozone air cleaners that they sell in the upscale yuppie stores ... five minutes in the room with this thing running, and you can no longer breath. This is an industrial scale ozone generator, designed to kill every organic particle it can get to. I use it in my boat, to keep the mold and mildew down, but you can only run it for about four hours (it has a timer), so I turn it on when I leave, and when I come back the next weekend, I still have to let the cabin air out for a while. The only problem is, I've noticed some of the plastic and rubber items in my boat starting to degrade prematurely, so be careful how often you use it, or maybe you shouldn't leave the area sealed up and full of ozone for a week at time like I do.

Addendum: I've been using mine for over a year, and it's still going strong. A while back it wouldn't turn on one day, and I thought "that's it, it finally died, as...

Surprising amount of ozone...
Update: 8/20/12 still very pleased. Very powerful for it's size and does a great job!
I've only had it a few days, but it does seem to generate a surprising amount of ozone. Bought for a small damp room under the stairs and has worked very well. It's light weight and portable. Ran it in my bathroom and an upstairs bedroom as well. Run settings go from 30 min to 4 hours. It was fairly inexpensive compared to other similarly powered units. Don't know how it will fare over time - but my inital impression is favorable.

A good respectable tool
I used it to remove strong cigarette smell from an apartment 80%. It's easy to use. I'm glad I bought it.

Secura 3-Tier 6-Quart Stainless Steel Electric Food Cooker Rice Steamer, w/ Steam360 technology S-324

Love this Steamer
Update on February 13, 2013. This steamer is amazing and the most used appliance in our kitchen. I steam whole grains in it, reheat food, cook vegetables - it's a true winner and highly recommended.

-------------------------------------

I was waiting for more of you to review this steamer but then I was too curious to wait. We have really loved our Oster steamer but we are severly uncomfortable with the plastic components. I have been looking for over a year for another steamer that is BPA free/plastic free. The steamer arrived yesterday and we tried it out right away. I filled it with warm/hot tap water, and it steamed beautifully. The stainless steel bowls are neat. We bought this as an "intermediary" device until more healthy steamers come on the market. They could have added a few things to make this steamer perfect: water tank for 90 min. steaming; ability to add water while steaming; timer that allows steaming at future time; Keeping warm component -...

No BPA / plastic issues to worry about
The single best thing about this steamer is that there's no need to worry about plastics (even plastics marketed as BPA-free may leach chemicals that mimic estrogen). I looked high and low on Amazon and this is pretty much the only electric steamer not made out of plastic. FYI, I purchased the 9-quart version (9" diameter, 2.5" deep pans). While we're happy to have the larger one for the steaming capacity, it's a bit hard to find storage space when it's not in use.

Pros:
* No plastics (the "hard plastic heating element" mentioned in the other reviews looks and feel like ceramic to me - which is a common material for heating elements).
* The insert pans are optional, so if you have items that are taller than 2.5", you can add another layer and leave out the pan.
* Heats up pretty quickly, and steams all three layers well.
* Simple operation (mechanical dial to set the steam duration).
* Easy to clean, including the water reservoir. The various...

Looks nice, not very practical
This was a gift from my husband as I had asked for one.

It looks real nice, although the steel/platic bottom combination confuses me.

Things I like about the product:

Basket bottoms are solid, so little food like corn does not drop through like other 'vented' baskets.
You can marinade items and keep the juice in the basket.
The baskets are seperate from the steam rings, they just slot in. Makes for cleaning the baskets rather easy. This also means you can remove a basket but stack the vent rings to accommidate something larger.
The steam vents are located at the top of each ring level, so if you want to cook fish, the steam travels through the vents on the outside, not through the food keeping flavours apart.
The baskets are large, which is great for our 4 person family. You can make an entire dinner from it with decent servings for all.
It has a super large water resevoir approx 6 cups or more. So anything that requires...

Dreamgear DGWII-3116 Black Power Base Quad for Nintendo Wii

Would recommend this product
I had previously tried a different charger and had issues with it so decided to give this one a try. I am pleased with this charger. It is an induction charger (meaning there are not specific contacts on the batteries that have to line up to be charged) so you can put the batteries/remotes in any configuration on the charger to charge (batteries by themselves, in remote with or without a cover on the remote). One of the previous reviews I read claimed that this only charged by a timer (did not really sense how much charge the batter had left) but that is not correct. Yes, if you put a fully charged battery on the charger, the LED will go red indicating it is charging, but in just a couple of minutes it will go blue. Overall, I would recommend this as a very convenient charger.

Mine has a Sync button right on the cover.
I too had a bad experience with another brand of charger and re-chargeable batteries with conductors/contacts. So I just purchased and received this model. I'm seeing a lot of negative feedback concerning the necessity to install alkaline/non-rechargeable batteries in order to sync to the Wii console. But mine has a little button right on the cover placed directly over where the little red button is located under the cover. I just used a tooth pick, pushed the little button on the cover and voila! Sync achieved on all four of my Wiimotes! Oh, be sure to allow enough charging time for there to actually be enough charge life in the battery packs to power on the Wiimotes and perform the sync is all.

They work great even with the sleeve covering the unit. Would highly recommend this to anyone wanting re-chargeable batteries in their Wiimotes. One thing I did notice is that the batteries become warm if the remote unit is removed and replaced into the charging saddle too...

Glad I bought it!
The rechargeable batteries work quite well in our new all-in-one Motion plus remotes. I had a moment of anxiety when I first went to put them in because the fit is very tight, but line it up well and it will snap in. So easy to charge and use. Very unobtrusive in our main living area. I love that the battery pack will charge on its own or inside the remote--a great convenience. The only inconvenience with the rechargable battery packs (all of them) is that you need a set of regular batteries to connect your remote to the Wii console since the connect button is inside the battery compartment. But that's not a big deal. Well worth the money savings.
