Better than a stove!!
I am familiar with the Oster brand of appliances since as long as I can remember. I had a problem with my gas stove and decided to try this alternative to buying a new stove since I don't cook much anymore. I love it. It heats up very quickly and is easy to clean. When I make Jell-o, I make about a dozen double packs at a time (all lime); but, boil the water separately for each one...I keep the cycle of measure, pour, boil, etc going and the water boils so quickly that I don't have to wait for it. I hope that makes sense. I don't think I will buy a new stove; this double burner does what I need to do perfectly. The base does get hot and needs to be about 6 inches from other surfaces when in use; but, it cools fairly quickly. It doesn't heat up the room which is great when compared to a gas stove's top burners. It was a lot cheaper than a stove, too. God bless
Good cooktop, but
This cook top worked well. Bought as a gift for my parents and they are very pleased with it. Does heat up kind of slower but cooks food and boils water well.
Update after 1 year --- I'm pretty sure it's 900w(big) 600w(small). But one knob kept cracking, which was superglued, then after 1 year finally fell off, off and no longer worked.

This is an update on the Oster Inspire burner I purchased last April 2012. (see comments below) It was the third one purchased. This is May 28, 2013. Over the weekend (Memorial Day) the left dial fell off in pieces. Today I called Oster to let them know about it. It was a horrible experience. I am legally blind and in a wheelchair and the customer rep told me to get the numbers off the plug which was impossible for me to get to. She said when I get those numbers, call them back. Insteaad I am writing this update. It took me quite a while to realize that Oster manufactures worthless double burners and strongly advise you to choose another brand. Their customer service is horrific. Apparently their policy and procedures do not have a section dealing with handicap custormers.
This is my third Oster Double Burner in ten years. Part of it is stainless steel but the "BURNERS" are not. The only reason I got a third is because I know it works well and you can cook quickly on...
